Dylan T. Mick and Dylan L. Stringer are being held in the Ada County Jail on burglary and grand theft charges after Boise police say they were caught breaking into a car Tuesday morning near Columbia Village and stealing an expensive pair of binoculars.

A resident in the 5200 block of South Hayseed Way called police around 8 a.m. Tuesday to report that a neighbor saw two men break into his car earlier that morning. Police used that information to identify the 21-year-old Mick and 19-year-old Stringer as suspects and found them a short time later at a home in the 5400 block of South Paintbrush Place, which is in the same neighborhood.

Police found a pair of Leica binoculars at the home which were taken from the car on Hayseed Way, along with other items officers suspect may have been stolen from other cars. The Leica binoculars are worth more than $1,000, which is why both men are charged with grand theft.

Officers are trying to figure out where the other items, which were not specifically identified in the police reports, came from and say additional charges are possible.

Mick and Stringer will make their initial court appearances later Wednesday afternoon.

The crimes of grand theft and burglary are punishable by up to 14 and 10 years in prison.
