Open house set for trophy species

Hunters can review and comment on proposed statewide 2013-14 moose, bighorn sheep and mountain goat seasons at an open house from 1 to 5 p.m., Friday, Jan. 4, at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game’s Nampa regional office, 3101 S. Powerline Road.

No changes in current seasons or limits for moose, bighorn sheep or mountain goats are being proposed for the next two hunting seasons in Southwest Idaho. However, hunt changes are being proposed in other parts of the state. A complete list of statewide trophy season proposals and the opportunity to comment online can be found at fishandgame.idaho.gov/content/trophyproposals.

The deadline for comments is Jan. 9. For more information, call Fish and Game’s Nampa office at 465-8465.

SNOWMOBILING

Garden Valley Fun Run is a go for Saturday

Registration is 9 a.m. to noon, Jan. 5, at Terrace Lakes Lodge (terracelakes.com), just outside Crouch off Middle Fork Road.

Entry fee is $5, trailer and RV parking available, restaurant and bar, raffle drawing with 50 percent payback and special free kids raffle (12 or younger).

Proceeds are used to fund parking lot plowing, restrooms, local charities and efforts to protect snowmobiling on public lands. Sponsored by Garden Valley Sno-Goers. For details call Tierney Nokes at 462-3118 or email tierneynokes@gmail.com.
