Police: Boise woman charged with third DUI Sunday morning had young child in the car

Published: December 31, 2012

Lisa M. Cresswell is being held in the Ada County Jail on felony DUI and misdemeanor injury to child charges after Boise police say she was caught driving drunk early Sunday morning with a young child in the car.

Sunday’s DUI arrest was Cresswell’s second in 2012, according to Boise police and Idaho court records. The 31-year-old is charged with a felony because she has at least two previous drunken driving arrests on her record.

Police were tipped off about a possible drunk driver just after midnight Saturday when investigating a report of an undisclosed dispute at a Boise home. Officers found Cresswell’s car near 22nd and Anderson streets and pulled her over. Police say they detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from Cresswell and also say she failed field sobriety tests. She was then arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail, where officers took a blood sample for testing.

Cresswell had a child under the age of five in the car with her, which is why she is charged with a misdemeanor count of injury to child.

Cresswell did not take a breath test, so a blood alcohol content level reading was not available.

Cresswell is also charged with a misdemeanor count of driving without privileges. Cresswell’s driver’s license was suspended for one year in July as part of her guilty plea in connection with her DUI arrest in April.

The crime of felony DUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
