Christmas tree pickup for recycling starts today in Meridian and will run through Saturday, Jan. 5. Trees should be put out on regular trash pickup days.
All decorations must be removed from trees, which should be cut into 4-foot pieces. Set the trees away from trash carts. Paper bags with leaves and yard waste will also be collected.
In Boise, Christmas trees may be recycled on regular trash pickup days, from Monday, Jan. 7, to Friday, Jan. 11.
Boiseans who have accumulated more than normal trash during the holidays can put out extra trash without added fees for curbside pickup. Next week, set out extra material on regular trash days in 20-32 gallon trash cans (bags and boxes of trash will not be collected).
Leaves and yard waste in paper bags can also be set out without overflow trash stickers.
We know from collection data and speaking to residents they have significantly more waste during the holiday season, Boise Public Works Solid Waste Manager Catherine Chertudi said in a release Thursday. While we always encourage residents to reuse and recycle as much as possible, this cleanup week allows residents to discard extra trash at no additional cost.
Unicorporated Ada County, along with Garden City and Star are also collecting extra trash in 20-32 gallon containers.
