Volunteers are needed to help clean up parks and maintain flower beds as part of two new Boise Parks & Recreation programs.
Adopt-A-Park projects include litter pickup, filling mutt mitt dispensers, inspection of site amenities for repair or maintenance, graffiti removal, weeding, spreading safety surface materials at playgrounds, painting benches, raking leaves and other duties.
Locations include neighborhood parks and smaller sites such as Baggley, Catalpa, DeMeyer, Helen B. Lowder and Redwood parks.
Boise in Bloom volunteers will plant and maintain existing flower and planting beds at sites throughout the city. Participants are also invited to propose new planting beds.
For both programs, volunteers are required to make a year-long commitment and complete a training session to learn proper maintenance techniques. Boise Parks & Recreation will provide materials, tools, staff assistance and oversight.
