The Idaho Department of Fish and Game will be stocking about 5,000 pan-size rainbow trout in a limited number of waters in Southwest Idaho in January.
The fish will be stocked mostly in the Boise River and in a few ponds.
Other ponds are susceptible to freezing and are not usually stocked in January.
BOISE RIVER
The Boise River, above and below Glenwood Bridge, will get 600 trout in each section on Jan. 14.
Marsing Pond at Marsing will get 450 trout on Dec. 31.
In the Emmett area, Sawyers Ponds will be stocked with 450 trout on Jan. 14.
WATERS IN NAMPA
Wilson Springs in Nampa will get 250 trout on each of three days: Dec. 31, Jan. 14 and Jan. 28.
Nearby Wilson Springs Ponds in Nampa will get 500 trout on Dec. 31 and on Jan. 7, 14, 21 and 28.
The number of trout released may be changed by the weather, water conditions, equipment problems or schedule changes, Fish and Game said.
If delays occur, trout will be stocked when conditions become favorable.
