Treasure Valley's surrounded by winter storm warnings as holidays approach

Published: December 23, 2012

It’s a rainy/almost snowy day in the Treasure Valley, but we’re surrounded by winter storm warnings and winter driving conditions.

The National Weather Service reports “widespread accumulating snow is expected across the area today and tonight, except not in the Treasure and Magic valleys.”

At Bogus Basin, as of 3:30 p.m. the ski resort reported three new inches of snow Sunday with a base depth of 15 inches. The ski area opened for the season Friday, with current hours of 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours and open slopes will increase as the season continues and snow accumulates.

With the exception of those valleys, Winter Weather Advisories for snow have been issued for most of southwest Idaho and southeast Oregon. Elevations between 3000 and 5000 feet are expected to get 2 to 4 inches of snow with higher elevations seeing 3 to 7 inches.
