BOISE STATE FOOTBALL

Letter complaining about Southwick was unjust

I just finished reading the (Dec. 16) letter by Rico Rojas, who jumped all over Joe Southwick because he thought Joe was complaining because his teammates didn’t down a pooch kick correctly in the Nevada game.

Rico, the kick landed on the 18-yard line and rolled to the 9-yard line, where it was grounded as a dead ball. It couldn’t have been grounded any closer to the goal line. Your assumption that Joe was complaining about his team is incorrect. He was pointing the opposite direction.

It’s cheap of you to say Joe should be ashamed of his display of arrogance just because you don’t understand the game of football. My guess is if you did end up in an “up-close-and-personal discussion” with Joe like you wanted, you would leave with a better understanding of the game.

Go back and watch a replay, then be sure to write and apologize to Joe.

I thought he was complaining about the play clock nearly running out. Just a guess on my part, nonetheless, not for me to criticize.
