Boise State men face New Orleans on Sunday in Vegas

Published: December 23, 2012

Filling out the starting lineup has been easy for Boise State men’s basketball coach Leon Rice this season.

The Broncos, who used 15 starting lineups in 30 games last season, have started the same five in each of their 10 games this year. The Broncos never used any starting lineup more than six times last year.

The Broncos (8-2) take on New Orleans (3-7) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. MST. The game is not televised but is on radio (670 AM).

Forward Anthony Drmic kept the streak alive Thursday against Idaho, starting the game despite a severe flu that limited his minutes and effectiveness.

“I didn’t think he’d play,” Rice said after the Broncos’ victory. “He wanted to. He insisted on starting.”

Drmic, the team’s second-leading scorer, was still sick after gutting out 24 minutes and five points in the victory against Idaho. He is expected to play against New Orleans.

“We need Anthony. We miss Anthony a lot. He needs to get better fast,” center Ryan Watkins said. “It’s tough out there without him.”
