Published: December 22, 2012

GOODING — Chelsea L. Sorensen, 22, and Ryan W. Bowen, 23, were the victims Friday night when Sorensen’s car crossed the median and collided with Bowen’s near the Bliss rest area in Gooding County.

Authorities said Sorensen was driving west on Interstate 84 when she lost control of her Chevrolet Cobalt, which overturned and slid into the path of Bowen’s Nissan Maxima. He died at the scene of the crash. Sorensen was taken by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where she died.

Three passengers in Bowen’s car — Franklin D. Bowen, 52, Nedra G. Bowen, 50, and Loralee Bowen, 17, all of Burley — were hospitalized.

All of the drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts, according to the Idaho State Police, which is still investigating.
