A fire caused extensive damage to a Southeast Boise home early Wednesday morning.
The fire was reported about 2:30 a.m. on the 3900 block of S. Yorktown Way.
The residents were able to safely get out of the home. No one was injured.
Witnesses report that during the fire, which started in the garage, they heard what they believed to be an explosion.
Boise Fire Battalion Chief Romeo Gervais said it is too early to determine if the fire was arson. He said now that it is daylight, fire investigators are on scene and have just started working to determine the fire's cause.
The street is closed and Boise police are on scene to keep people away from the scene because of concerns about the reported explosion, said Boise Police Department spokesman Chuck McClure. Investigators are working to identify the source of the explosion and want to ensure no further risk exists.
