Idaho National Guard troops return to Boise

Idaho National Guard Technical Sgt. James Anselme is greeted by family members after arriving at the Boise Airport on Thursday afternoon. Anselme was one of 10 civil engineers to return who served with the 124th Civil Engineer Squadron from Gowen Field during a 180-day deployment to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan. Currently the Idaho Army National Guard and Idaho Air National Guard have over 100 soldiers and airmen deployed to Afghanistan.

Ten members of the Idaho Air National Guard returned to Boise Thursday afternoon after six-month deployment to Afghanistan.

These troops are civil engineers from the 124th Civil Engineer Squadron from Gowen Field.

While serving at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan, they worked on repairing and maintaining runways and taxiways and other construction projects. More than 100 soldiers and airmen from the Idaho Army National Guard and Idaho Air National Guard are currently deployed to Afghanistan.

Since September 2001, more than 5,000 Idaho National Guard soldiers and airmen have been deployed to combat zones.
