Deric J. Stellman and Crystal L. Terry are being held in the Ada County Jail on felony injury to child charges after Boise police say they found the couples kids living in filthy conditions at the familys Bench home in November.
Boise police were began their investigation Nov. 9 after getting a call from the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, who got a call from a third party who was concerned about living conditions at the home, which is on Liberty Street, in the Curtis/Franklin roads neighborhood.
When officers arrived at the home, they found three pre-teen kids, including an infant, inside. They also found animal feces, soiled diapers, and rotting food strewn throughout the home, which had no electricity or heat, according to reports.
Police declared the children to be in imminent danger and placed them the custody of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
The 31-year-old Stellman and 32-year-old Terry were not arrested at that point. Police finished their investigation and turned it over to Ada County prosecutors, who issued arrest warrants for the couple Dec. 4, according to reports.
Stellman and Terry turned themselves in just after midnight Monday, according to Ada County jail records.
The couple will make their initial court appearances Tuesday afternoon.
The crime of felony injury to child is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
