The giveaway will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dec. 22 at the project's headquarters, 1027 Lusk St., in Boise. Along with the bikes, the children will receive new helmets.
Whole Foods will serve soup, hot chocolate and coffee at the event, according to a Boise Bicycle Project press release.
Schools and charitable organizations around the area helped the project identify recipients.
The press release credited Blue Cross and Jim's Appliance and Furniture for helping make the event succeed. Blue Cross, through its 2012 Blue Cruise Charity Bike Ride, raised $9,000 to help pay for helmets, training wheels and repair supplies for the Boise Bicycle Project's giveaway. Jim's, meanwhile, cleared warehouse space to make room for the storage of more than 200 bikes.
