Anthony J. Catalano is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony DUI charge after Boise police say he was caught driving drunk late Wednesday night near Downtown Boise his second such arrest in three years where he was more that twice the legal limit.
Police say the 36-year-old Catalano registered a .28 blood alcohol content (bac) percentage level after taking a breath test after he was pulled over, which is more that three times the legal bac limit of .08.
Catalano was convicted in 2009 on an excessive DUI charge in Ada County, where his bac level was over .20, according to Idaho court records, making his current DUI arrest a felony. He also has a misdemeanor DUI conviction from Ada County in 1999.
Boise police pulled Catalanos car over on South Avenue A just off Front Street (right next to WinCo Foods) just before midnight after an officer noticed the car had a burnt-out taillight.
Police say Catalano appeared very intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests before being taken to the jail, where he registered the .28 bac, according to reports.
Catalano will make his initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.
The crime of felony DUI is punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
