The Boise State men’s basketball team lost its three-game winning streak — and its national momentum — with a 76-55 loss to Utah at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

Earlier this week, the Broncos received Top 25 votes, mostly on the heels of last week’s road victory over No. 11 Creighton.

Derrick Marks had 18 points, Mikey Thompson added 16 and Ryan Watkins finished with 8, but Boise State (6-2) couldn’t recover from a slow start. The Broncos trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half.

They shot 40 percent from the field, while the Utes (6-2) hit 68 percent of their shots. Utah, led by former Idaho Stampede coach Larry Krystkowiak, also outrebounded Boise State 31-18.

“They just handed us our hats. ... It was just one of those nights where we’d be in the right place and we couldn’t even catch the ball,’’ Boise State coach Leon Rice said on his postgame radio show on KBOI. “If we’re not the hungry dog, we’re going to get beat and we definitely weren’t that tonight.’’

Jarred DuBois scored 18 points for Utah, which led 41-25 at halftime. Jason Washburn had 13 points and Jordan Loveridge contributed 11 as the two players combined to make 11-of-14 shots.

Boise State’s next game is at home against LSU on Dec. 14.
