Idaho colleges roundup: College of Idaho volleyball closes pool play with a win

The Coyotes defeated Saint Francis 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 on Thursday at the NAIA Volleyball National Championships in Sioux City, Iowa. Jessica Peacock had 11 kills and 10 digs for her fifth double-double in six matches, and Sofia Anxo adding 10 kills for the C of I (24-7). The Coyotes finish pool play at 2-1 and will face MidAmerica Nazarene at 9 a.m. Friday in single-elimination play.

IDAHO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Five Vandals scored in double figures and Idaho tied the program’s single-game 3-point record (14), but 20 turnovers doomed the Vandals in a 76-65 loss to Montana in Missoula, Mont. Christina Salvatore scored a game-high 15 points for Idaho (1-5).

IDAHO STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL: Chris Hansen scored 20 points, and the Bengals topped Montana Western 70-52 in Pocatello. It’s the first win for ISU (1-5).

ISU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Lindsey Reed scored a season-high 20 points as the Bengals defeated South Dakota 69-45 in Vermillion, S.D. It was the third straight win for ISU (3-2).

NORTHWEST NAZARENE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders fell to Western Oregon 94-82 in Monmouth, Ore. Kenny Jones scored 23 points and led three players in double figures for NNU (3-3 , 0-1 GNAC).

NNU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders took their first loss of the season, falling to Seattle Pacific 76-69 in Seattle. Megan Hingston led NNU (5-1, 0-1 GNAC) with 19 points, and Chelsie Luke added 10 points and had a team-high seven rebounds.

BOISE STATE SOFTBALL: The Broncos signed three players for the 2014 season — Libbie Jimenez (Walla Walla, Wash.), Mackenzie McGill (Long Beach, Calif.) and Isabel Serrano (Garden Grove, Calif.).

NNU BASEBALL: RHP Kyle Garvin (Mountain View High) is transfering from Yakima Valley Community College to play for the Crusaders next season.

IDAHO SWIMMING: Sophomore Rachel Millet broke the Vandal record for the 200 individual medley in her first event at the AT&T Winter National Swim Meet in Austin, Texas. Millet was clocked in 2 minutes, 3.60 seconds, taking 38th in the event.
