There's still time to help fulfill a wish on the Soroptimist gift list

Published: November 28, 2012

A 65-year tradition: Each holiday season since 1947, Soroptimist International of Boise has sponsored a gift-giving project that benefits Treasure Valley seniors and foster children. The Statesman published the wish list on Thanksgiving day, and generous readers already have whittled this year’s wishes by more than half. But about 80 items are still needed for children and about 180 for seniors.

Gift cards are popular: A quick and easy way to help — and one of the most requested items — is a gift card. “Seniors use them to fill prescriptions and for basic household necessities. Kids use them to buy school clothes,” said Soroptimist Lena Gandiaga.

To donate a gift: Visit www.soroptimistboise.org/donations to find a list of names and wishes, and drop-off sites.

To make a cash donation: Send checks to SI Boise, P.O. Box 8885, Boise, ID 83707. Specify if you would like your contribution to be used a certain way. Call 639-5749 for info.
