Published: November 27, 2012

A man in a stolen Jeep escaped Garden City police Tuesday in a short chase that began on East 47th Street.

Officers were responding to a report of a suspicious maroon 1986 Jeep Wagoneer with wood panels parked in the 400 block about 5:42 p.m. when they tried to contact the driver and fled, according to the Garden City Police Department.

Police pursued the vehicle for a short distance but ended the chase because of heavy traffic and safety concerns. They then learned the jeep, license plate number 1A3D585, was reported stolen Monday in Boise.

The driver is described as a white man wearing a black jacket with a gray hood and sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to call Garden City police at (208) 472-2950 or Crime Stoppers at (208) 343-COPS.
