Parole officers, citizens help police identify WinCo robbery suspect

A man who police say tried to rob a grocery store in Eagle Tuesday was arrested after tips from parole officers and other citizens.

Nikolas Michael Nikolish, 34, is to appear in 4th District Court Wednesday on an attempted robbery charge after he was arrested about 7 p.m. at his home in the 5100 block of Fairmont Street.

A clerk at WinCo Foods, 3032 E. State Street, told police a man approached the customer service desk at the front of the store about 2:45 p.m.. and asked for all the cash in the till, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

He repeated his request but left without any money when another employee approached.

The Sheriff's Office released photos of the robber and his SUV about 5 p.m. Nikolish has an extensive criminal history that includes convictions for burglary and grand theft in 2007. He's been on parole since he left prison in 2010.
