The Idaho Department of Transportation on Wednesday night will start construction to improve the Eagle Road and Chinden Boulevard intersection.
During construction, ITD will activate a new traffic signal and widen and reconfigure the intersection. The free-running right-turn lanes in the southeast corner will be closed and the old signal poles will be removed.
All construction will be done at night.
On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights, weather permitting, flaggers will direct traffic through the intersection from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. At least one lane in each direction will remain open and access to all businesses will be maintained.
Beginning Saturday morning, ITD will open the new dedicated right-turn lanes at the southeast and northeast corners of the intersection.
Over the next couple of weeks, crews will place medians on Chinden near the intersection, pave the Chinden intersection and finish installing curb, gutter and sidewalks.
ITD is scheduled to complete the Eagle Road construction project by mid-December.
