If you’re looking to carve some turns after carving a turkey, you’ll have to hit Sun Valley Resort or Grand Targhee Resort.

Other ski areas in the region need more snow to open.

SUN VALLEY

Sun Valley Resort will open Baldy and Dollar mountains Thursday, Nov. 22.

The River Run side of Baldy will open with River Run and Lookout Express chairlifts allowing skiers access to Upper College, Roundhouse Lane and Mid and Lower River Run.

For tiny Baldy skiers, the Kinderspielplatz moving carpet will operate.

Dollar Mountain skiers and boarders can expect Quarter Dollar lift, Poverty Flats and Quarter Dollar Bowl to be accessible.

Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge and River Run Lodge will be open.

As conditions change on both mountains, check updated reports at sunvalley.com or (800) 635-4150.

GRAND TARGHEE

Grand Targhee on the Idaho/Wyoming border will open Friday, Nov. 23, for top-to-bottom skiing and boarding on Fred’s Mountain.

Three out of five lifts will be running at the resort, east of Idaho Falls.

Dreamcatcher, Shoshone and Papoose Magic Carpet are scheduled to run conditions permitting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The resort is offering discounts on day passes for donations of canned goods to the Teton Valley Food Bank.

Details on Grand Targhee can be found at GrandTarghee.com.

Lodging reservations can be made by calling (800) 827-4433.
