Jeffery B. Ash is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony count of marijuana trafficking after Boise police say they found 28 pounds of pot his motel room near the airport Tuesday night.
The initial report to police had nothing to do with pot it was about a cell phone picture of male genitalia.
A woman called police just before 9:45 p.m. Tuesday and said a man she just met at the motel later identified as the 54-year-old Ash showed her a cell phone picture of his genitals.
When police got to the motel to talk to Ash about the picture they found him smoking a joint in his room, according to reports. Police say Ash then let them inside the room, where police found two duffelbags containing a total of 25 separate bags of marijuana, with a total weight of 28.5 pounds, according to reports.
Police charged Ash with trafficking because of the large amount of marijuana found in the room and other undisclosed evidence that the pot was for sale, officials said Wednesday morning.
Police reports do not say if police suspect the pot either came from or was supposed to go on a plane.
Ash, who jail records say is from Fayetteville, Ark., is also charged with a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure for the cell phone picture.
Ash will make his initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon.
The crime of marijuana trafficking is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
