The Vandals defeated UT-San Antonio 16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20, 16-14 on Tuesday night to advance to their first WAC championship match. Idaho faced match point at 14-11 in the fifth set before rallying for a 16-14 victory.

“They kept fighting, and that’s what you have to have happen when you’re in those moments,” Idaho coach Debbie Buchanan said. The Vandals, seeded second, will face No. 4 seed New Mexico State at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the conference championship match. New Mexico State upset top-seed Utah State on Tuesday.
