Melaleuca, a wellness company in Idaho Falls, is giving bonuses to 264 employees for spending five to 20 years with the company.
The average bonus is more than $10,000. All full- and part-time employees receive bonuses for loyalty and long-term contribution to the company regardless of their position or pay rate. Melaleuca is paying the bonuses for every five years worked, from $5,000 on a five-year anniversary to $30,000 on a 30-year anniversary.
The company encourages employees to put the bonuses into deferred-compensation programs to save for retirement.
"It's our goal that all Melaleuca employees will retire as millionaires," said Melaleuca CEO Frank VanderSloot. "Loyalty is a two-way street. We believe those who go the journey with us should share in the wealth. It's rewarding to me to see them prosper with the company."
Melaleuca said it has a program for all long-term employees to have more than $1 million in the bank at retirement, as long as they invest their longevity bonuses in the company's Longevity and 401(k) programs.
