Vandals to change starting QB

Published: November 20, 2012

Junior Taylor Davis will start at quarterback in the season finale against Utah State on Saturday, interim coach Jason Gesser said Monday. Davis will be the third starting quarterback for Idaho this year, joining Dominique Blackman and Logan Bushnell.

Davis completed 18-of-29 passes for 223 yards and three TDs after replacing Bushnell in last week’s loss to UT-San Antonio.

“Taylor earned himself, with the way he performed, a chance to start this week,” Gesser said.

• Gesser said he would do a phone interview with the Vandals’ coaching search committee later this week. “I think I’ve done a pretty decent job of keeping the guys engaged and putting a good product on the field,” said Gesser, who took over for first Robb Akey.

The Vandals (1-10) are 0-3 under Gesser.
