Idaho gets its first solar-powered vehicle charging station

Published: November 19, 2012

Idaho's first solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles is now in operation, the Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition reports. Its power is free to users.

The station is at the Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Center, 121 E. 34th St., Garden City. It's called a level 2 station, meaning it provides 240-volt alternating-current charging. That's the same voltage that a home charger provides.

A dedication ceremony for the station was held Thursday, Nov. 15.
