Car crash sends light pole across I-84 Eagle off-ramp

Published: November 12, 2012

Traffic was blocked for about an hour Monday evening after a distracted driver crashed into the back of a car stopped in traffic at the westbound Eagle off-ramp of Interstate 84.

Mark Oldham, 53, of Orem, Utah, was driving a 2012 Dodge van westbound when he became distracted and crashed into a 2012 Kia Forte driven by Pamela Halvorson, 65, of Meridian, according to Idaho State Police.

The impact sent Halvorson's car into a light pole, which fell across the off ramp and blocked traffic.

Halvorson was taken by ambulance to St. Luke's Meridian Medical Center but had been discharged by Monday night.

Halvorson suffered minor injuries in an unrelated six-car crash on I-184 last January, according to an ISP news release at the time.
