Last week’s home loss to San Diego State marked just the eighth defeat in Chris Petersen’s tenure at Boise State. Petersen is 80-8 as the Broncos’ head coach. Here is a look at how the Broncos have fared after the previous seven losses:

LOSS: AT WASHINGTON, SEPT. 8, 2007

Next game: vs. Wyoming, Sept. 15, 2007

The Broncos returned home and topped Wyoming 24-14 at Bronco Stadium one week after the 24-10 loss to Washington — Petersen’s first as a head coach (in his 15th game) and still the largest defeat he has suffered.

LOSS: AT HAWAII, NOV. 23, 2007

Next game: vs. East Carolina, Dec. 23, 2007

For the only time in the Petersen era, Boise State dropped two games in a row. Having been beaten 39-27 by Sugar Bowl-bound Hawaii, the Broncos returned to the islands a month later for a bowl game against East Carolina and fell 41-38 on a last-second field goal to cap the 2007 season at 10-3.

LOSS: VS. E. CAROLINA, DEC. 23, 2007

Next game: vs. Idaho State, Aug. 30, 2008

An undersized redshirt freshman quarterback started the 2008 season opener against Idaho State. The 49-7 win was the first of Kellen Moore’s 50 career victories.

LOSS: VS. TCU, DEC. 23, 2008

Next game: vs. Oregon, Sept. 3, 2009

The 17-16 Poinsettia Bowl loss to the Horned Frogs ended the 2008 season and gave the 2009 team its rallying cry — finish. The Broncos opened 2009 with a 19-8 home victory against Oregon and didn’t lose a game the rest of the way.

LOSS: AT NEVADA, NOV. 26, 2010

Next game: vs. Utah State, Dec. 4, 2010

Boise State clobbered Utah State 50-14 on Senior Day at Bronco Stadium despite a lackluster effort from a team still in shock after a 34-31 overtime loss in Reno a week earlier that cost it an undefeated season and likely Rose Bowl appearance.

LOSS: VS. TCU, NOV. 12, 2011

Next game: at San Diego State, Nov. 19, 2011

After a devastating 36-35 home loss to the Horned Frogs ended their hopes for an undefeated season and a BCS national title, the Broncos went on the road the next week and defeated San Diego State 52-35.

LOSS: AT MICHIGAN ST., AUG. 31, 2012

Next game: vs. Miami (Ohio), Sept. 15, 2012

After a bye week to regroup from the physical, season-opening 17-13 loss to the Spartans, Boise State handled Miami (Ohio) 39-12 at home.
