A company based in Oregon is making its first foray into the Treasure Valley health care market with a clinic that opened Tuesday at 510 Main St. in Downtown Boise.
ZoomCare is a business based in the Portland area that specializes in giving patients an on-time, transparently priced health care experience, said David Sanders, co-founder and co-CEO.
ZoomCare allows patients to book same-day appointments and see open appointment times at www.zoomcare.com.
But ZoomCare does not take Medicaid, Medicare or Medicare Advantage.
The clinic's hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Boise is the first Idaho stop in ZoomCare's western-states expansion plan. The clinic will have one lead physician, a lead physician assistant, another physician assistant and a nurse practitioner, and a few support staff members.
"Boise is hospitable to new businesses and new ideas," Sanders said. "We found Boise to be very welcoming."
He said ZoomCare is considering Meridian and Nampa locations as well.
A new office of Primary Health Medical Group recently opened near the new ZoomCare location.
"We do feel it is still an underserved area" for patients with same-day health care needs, Sanders said.
The company specializes in fast service so that patients are seen immediately, instead of spending time in a waiting room, he said. The clinic also has its own lab services and an on-site pharmacy.
But the price transparency almost everything is priced out on the website is a key attraction, Sanders said.
"Anywhere else, it's hard to know what it's going to cost," he said. "It's very hard to walk out of [local hospitals] without paying $1,000 for an emergency."
