Cody D. Conner, 21, is being held in the Canyon County Jail on resisting arrest charges after Caldwell Police say he led them on two foot chases Thursday before they found him hiding in a tree.
Caldwell police say Conner ran away from officers the first time around 4:15 p.m. Thursday after officers talked to him outside a convenience store at 10th Avenue and Freeport Street and discovered he had a knife. Thats when Conner ran away from police and into the neighborhood nearby.
Police lost him a short time later. They later discovered Conner had an active domestic violence case and a no-contact order filed against him with the woman he was with at the store. Police also found out that Conner had bonded out of jail and was awaiting trial after being arrested in October on felony grand theft and burglary charges.
A woman who lives in the neighborhood then called police and told them Conner asked to be let inside so he could hide from police.
The woman told Conner to get out, so he ran away, according to reports. Police went to her house but Conner was gone by the time they got there. Police continued to patrol the area and spotted Conner about a half mile from the store around 8 p.m.
Officers chased after Conner again and eventually found him hiding in a tree. He was then arrested and booked into the jail.
Conner is also charged with misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed weapon, violation of a no contact order, and unlawful entry.
