Payette County Sheriff’s officials say Michael Joseph Culley, the man who has been identified as a suspect in the stabbing death of Elizabeth Ann Baune, was arrested in Mahleur County Friday morning.

The 45-year-old Baune was found dead at her home 1619 Baker Lane near Payette just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Sheriff’s officials have not yet said why the 24-year-old Culley is a suspect, but they did say Culley was Baune’s roommate at the Baker Street home.

Investigators with the Payette County Sheriff’s Department, Idaho State Police and Payette and Fruitland police departments are all working on the case.

Baune’s body was found by a different roommate just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, Payette County Sheriff Chad Huff said.

Payette County Coroner's reports say Baune was killed by multiple stab wounds to the head and chest.

Investigators were asking for the public’s help in locating a turquoise 2002 Honda Passport taken from the Baker Street house, but that car was found abandoned in Payette Thursday night.

Sheriff's officials have not yet released any details on what led to Culley's arrest and where he was found.

Anyone with information should call the Payette County Sheriff’s office at (208) 642-6006.
