Brian W. Thomas is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony lewd conduct charge after Boise police say he had illegal sexual contact with a child under the age of 16 last summer.

Police began their investigation in August after being contacted by a third party and found evidence that the 28-year-old Thomas had illegal sexual contact with the child on more than one occasion in Boise. A safety plan was then put in place to make sure that Thomas did not have access to the child while detectives investigated the case.

Ada County prosecutors issued a warrant for Thomas earlier this week and Boise police arrested him Wednesday night without incident.

Police do not suspect there are any other victims in the case.

Thomas will make his initial court appearance later Thursday.

The crime of lewd conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
