Thomas Dylan Williams will find out in January if he will go to prison for having illegal sexual contact with two teenage girls he met while working as a tutor in the Boise School District.

The 22-year-old Williams pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of lewd conduct as part of an agreement with Ada County prosecutors, who dropped six other charges (including lewd conduct and sexual abuse of a minor) filed against Williams in connection with the case.

Court records do not indicate if there is a proposed deal on a sentence. Lewd conduct is punishable by up to life in prison. A sentencing hearing is set for Jan. 16 in front of 4th District Judge Deborah Bail.

Prosecutors say Williams had two victims — teenage girls who were 14 and 15 at the time of the illegal sexual contact — who he met while working as Boise School District’s AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) program. That program is for secondary school students who would likely not otherwise continue to college. The tutors focus on getting those student the background and skills they need to advance.

Williams is not accused of having illegal sexual contact with the teens at any school facilities.

Meridian police arrested Williams the night of Oct. 2 after getting a call from someone in Fuller Park, located in the 10 Mile Road/Cherry Lane neighborhood, who said they saw an adult man in a car with what appeared to be a much younger girl. The caller said towels were placed over some of the car windows.

Police arrived moments later and said they found Williams and the girl in the car. Police eventually determined that there was enough evidence of illegal sexual contact to charge Williams with lewd conduct. The girl went home with her parents and Williams was taken to jail, according to reports.

It was during the investigation that police determined that Williams met the girl — and the other victim — through the AVID program.

The AVID program includes daily study groups directed by professional tutors. It is active at Fairmont, North, Riverglen, Hillside and West junior high schools and Capital High School.

Boise School District officials said last month Williams worked as an AVID tutor between September 2011 and May 2012 but is no longer employed by the district.

Williams tutored at Fairmont and Hillside junior high schools and was paid $10 an hour for the part-time job, according to district records.
