Right to hunt prevails, Eagle City Hall measure narrowly defeated

Published: November 7, 2012

RIGHT TO HUNT PREVAILS HJR 2, the statewide measure to put the right to hunt in the constitution, was leading with 74 percent of the vote.

EAGLE CITY HALL MEASURE NARROWLY DEFEATED In early results, a proposal to buy City Hall with a 15-year, $1.5 million bond led with 59 percent of the vote. The city owns the land but has been leasing the building for $240,000 a year. The building’s owner has agreed to sell it to the city for $1.9 million. Officials say the annual bond payment will be less than the annual lease payment.

GARDEN CITY GREENBELT Voters seemed poised to reject two initiatives regarding the city’s controversial, unpaved Nature Path, which is closed to cyclists. Initiative A would open unpaved stretches of the walking path to bikes. Initiative B requires a vote before Garden City makes any future move to close a pathway.
