Shaun D. Knapp, 31

An armed man tried to break into a home in Boise's North End early Saturday, police said Monday.

Residents in the 1600 block of West Eastman Street, just east of North Harrison Boulevard, told police they do not know the burglar, identified by officers as Shaun D. Knapp, and repeatedly ordered him to leave after they awoke to him trying to enter through their front door about 3 a.m.

Knapp, 31, of Nampa, continued to bang on the door and try to access the home while the residents called police, according to a news release. Officers arrived to find him still there. He briefly refused to comply with orders to show his hands but soon surrendered. Police found two knives with him, including one concealed inside duct tape on a lanyard around his neck.

Knapp was booked into jail for felony attempted burglary, misdemeanor carry a concealed weapon without a license and misdemeanor resisting or obstructing officers.
