Reader's View, candidate rebuttal: It’s time to end partisan politicking

Published: November 3, 2012

I would like to give readers a chance to hear from me about my stances so they have an educated choice this Tuesday. I am running for Idaho House of Representatives because I love Idaho and the people of our amazing state. Beyond that, I’m running to provide folks with an alternative to the caustic two-party system. I am 21 years old, I am a college graduate and I want the bickering mess of a status quo we have to start working for people like you and me. I have only accepted contributions between $1 and $100 from people in Idaho. I have refused to take PAC or business or union money. I am hoping to push back against the overwhelming nature of money in politics.

I will work for workers’ rights, I will stand up for equality, I will fight for women’s rights and I will work day and night for the wonderful environment and wildlife which provide so much beauty to our great state. It’s time to start embracing a solution to our problems, not just the tired policies from the 1950s. I will fight for education and for a fair tax rate.

In sum, I will work for people, not profits, not fame, not personal gain. I will work for Idaho.

Gus Voss of Boise is an independent candidate for House Seat A in legislative District 17.
