Corey Bresina becomes Life's Kitchen culinary director

Chef and former Falcon Tavern owner Corey Bresina will take over as culinary director at Life's Kitchen, starting Nov. 5. Since 2002, Life’s Kitchen has taught life and culinary skills to youth at risk. The program brings students together with professional chefs and other culinary specialists to acquire the skills they need to find a job. The students get a wide swath of experience through Life’s Kitchen’s catering and contract food businesses and its food truck.

Bresina, who also has a finance degree, opened the Falcon in 2004 on Idaho Street in Downtown Boise. He moved it around the block to 705 W. Bannock St. in 2009 and sold it in September.

He follows Ryan Hembree as culinary director. Hembree left Life’s Kitchen this past summer to head the kitchen at Brewforia in Eagle.

Bresnia brings a strong business acumen to the position, along with a deep knowledge of food and the service industry that is the right fit for where Life’s Kitchen is right now, says Doug Metzgar, who also is the interim executive director.

“We’re a nonprofit but we’re also a business and we want to continue to develop that side of things,” Metzgar says. “Corey can help us go to the next level Life's Kitchen is currently running a national search for a new executive director, as well. LifesKitchen.org.
