Francisco Farias-Valencia is being held in the Ada County Jail on a felony lewd conduct charge after Boise police say he had illegal sexual contact with a child under the age of 10 earlier this fall.

Police began their investigation of the 49-year-old Farias-Valencia Sept. 16 after getting a tip that illegal sexual contact occurred at a Boise-area home three days earlier.

Police say Farias-Valencia and the child are known to each other. A safety plan was put in place at that time while detectives investigated the case. A warrant for Farias-Valencia was issued earlier this week and Boise police arrested him without incident Thursday afternoon.

Farias-Valencia will make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon.

The crime of lewd conduct is punishable by up to life in prison.
