Boise State wrestlers drop season opener

The Broncos won four matches, but lost 26-12 on Thursday night at Wyoming. Jake Swartz (184 pounds) opened the duel with a 6-1 win, but the Broncos lost their next three matches. Brenton Beard (133 pounds), George Ivanov (157) and Taylor West (165) were the other three Broncos to win matches.

IDAHO WOMEN’S SOCCER: Texas State defeated the Vandals 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament in Logan, Utah. Idaho, the sixth seed, scored on a Katie Baran goal in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 lead, but Texas State answered before halftime. Idaho had three scoring chances in overtime, but two were blocked and the third sailed high. Moments later, Texas State, the No. 3 seed, scored to end the Vandals’ season.

COLLEGE OF IDAHO MEN’S BASKETBALL: Rodney Delgardo led the C of I (1-2) with 30 points as the Coyotes defeated Walla Walla 80-68 for their first win of the season in La Grande, Ore.

IDAHO STATE MEN’S BASKETBALL: The Bengals defeated Montana Tech 71-41 in an exhibition game in Pocatello. Melvin Morgan led Idaho State with 20 points in the Bengals’ first game under coach Bill Evans.
