Idaho colleges roundup: Boise State soccer loses at MW tourney; season over

SAN DIEGO — The third-seeded Broncos lost to No. 6 Nevada 1-0 in the opening round of the Mountain West Conference Tournament. The Wolf Pack scored their lone goal in the 85th minute. The Broncos end the season with a 9-9-2 record after finishing tied for second in the conference during the regular season.

BSU WRESTLING: The Broncos take on Wyoming in a dual match Thursday before competing in the Cowboy Open on Saturday. The Broncos return all 10 starters from last season, including 2012 NCAA Tournament participants Brian Owen (133 pounds), George Ivanov (157), Jake Swartz (184) and Brent Chriswell (197). The Broncos also have NCAA All-American Jason Chamberlain (149) returning after redshirting last season. Five Broncos are ranked nationally this season: Owen (No. 12), Chamberlain (2), Ivanov (18), Swartz (12) and Chriswell (15). Boise State opens its home schedule Jan. 20 against Arizona State.

BSU WOMEN’S GOLF: Hayley Young (75-74-77) and Samantha Martin (75-75-76) tied for 13th at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at Leilehua Golf Course on Wednesday. The Broncos (plus-47) finished in seventh as a team, 16 strokes behind winner Florida International.

NNU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: The Crusaders used a 9-0 run late in the first half to help them pull away for an 81-58 win against Lewis-Clark State College in Nampa. Megan Hingston scored 16 points and added 12 rebounds for Northwest Nazarene in its season opener.
