Century (40-3) became the first team to win three state championships in a row since the 4A classification was created in 2000. The Diamondbacks held off 2009 winner Bonneville for a 26-28, 25-18, 25-17, 25-17 victory. District Three champion Skyview (38-6) finished third. After pushing Century to five sets in Saturday’s morning semifinal, the Hawks fell in three games to Bonneville and were eliminated.

Fruitland claimed its first volleyball state title in school history with two wins over Priest River. The Grizzlies lost only one game in four matches during the tournament — the first game against Priest River Saturday morning. After that, Fruitland rolled, winning 19-25, 25-21, 25-12, 25-22 in the first match and 25-18, 25-19, 25-16 in the second. The Grizzlies avenged last season’s five-game title-match loss to Snake River by beating them in the first round, and now have a state championship to go with seven straight SRV regular-season and district titles.

Nampa Christian (18-1) returned to the top of the podium after a 25-23, 25-15, 25-19 victory against Firth (19-4). It was the first state championship for the Trojans since they won two in a row from 2005-06. Nampa Christian also won four straight titles from 2000-03. Lauren Vanderstelt had 37 kills in two games Saturday, and Haley Troost added 81 assists. “Haley trusts her hitters and her hitters trust her,” Nampa Christian coach Chelsea Keller said. “The girls were super-focused and mentally prepared for state. The goal was just to play as good as we possibly could. I said all season I don’t have a 2A volleyball team, which is fun to have when you coach a 2A team.”

1A DIVISION I

Challis (22-0) won its second state championship in three seasons with a 25-16, 25-20, 25-15 victory over Genesee (32-7).

1A DIVISION II

Lighthouse Christian claimed its first state title in the sport with a dominating 25-20, 25-19, 25-6 victory against Mackay. Tri-Valley was the top finisher from District Three in fourth.
