Saturday’s football roundup: Fruitland, New Plymouth advance to state quarterfinals

District One-Two champ Timberlake held Parma (2-7) without a touchdown on its way to victory at the Kibbie Dome in Moscow. Timberlake (5-4) will host Weiser (5-4) next week in the state quarterfinals. Parma has yet to win a state playoff game since joining the 3A classification in 2010.

FRUITLAND 71, KELLOGG 12

Fruitland gained more than 500 yards of total offense on the road in the Kibbie Dome, and Andrew Weber ran two times for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Fruitland dominated and the outcome was never in doubt. “We got out healthy, so mission accomplished,” coach Bruce Schlaich said.

NEW PLYMOUTH 39, ST. MARIES 13

New Plymouth’s Kylar Harris completed 22-of-26 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns as the Pilgrims advanced past St. Maries and into the quarterfinals of the 2A state playoffs. Receivers Tyler Powell (four catches, 122 yards, one TD) and Jake Henggeler (seven catches, 113 yards) both had more than 100 receiving yards for New Plymouth.
