Vallivue’s penchant for comebacks continued in the first round, rallying from a two-game deficit to defeat Idaho Falls in five games. The Falcons kept that momentum going as they buried Post Falls in the second round in three sets. Vallivue will face Lewiston (28-4) on Saturday morning in the semifinals.

“It was a little stressful,” Vallivue coach Michelle O’Connell said of the match against Idaho Falls. “Any time you’re down two games, you have to look at (the third game) as a fresh start.”

Hailey Cook’s 76 assists in two matches helped set Skyview up in the state semifinals against two-time defending state champion Century (38-3). Skyview (38-4) beat Bonneville in the first round, and Twin Falls in the second.

Nikki Davidson led the Hawks with 10 kills against Bonneville, and Emily Nay’s nine kills helped Skyview get past Twin Falls.

“We’re going to have to keep moving the ball around offensively,” Skyview coach Kevin Murphy said about the semifinal matchup. “I don’t know if there’s a better team in the state of Idaho than Century.”

Fruitland won both of its matches in three games to set up a semifinal showdown against Priest River. Shelley and two-time defending state champion Snake River are also still alive.
