The body of a 20-year-old Kuna solider killed in Afghanistan will return to Idaho Saturday.

U.S. Army Pfc. Shane G. Wilson's remains will arrive on a charter aircraft from Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.

"The honorable transfer ceremony is the way in which the Army transfers a soldier’s remains to the family," according to a news release. "It is a very solemn, formal event."

Wilson was killed in Khost, Afghanistan on Oct. 18.

He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), in Fort Campbell, Ky. He graduated from Kuna High School in 2011.

Wilson's funeral is Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Ten Mile Christian Church, 3500 W. Franklin Road in Meridian. Family, friends and well wishers are invited to attend. A ceremony at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery will follow.

Gov. Butch Otter will attend the funeral, his office announced Friday.
