The Ada County Planning and Zoning Commission on Thursday evening unanimously voted to hold a public hearing on the Dynamis project.
Audience members applauded the decision.
This will be the countys first public hearing on the project to build a trash-to-energy plant at the landfill since it was initially approved by the Board of Ada County Commissioners in June 2010.
More than 180 citizens petitioned the Planning Commission to hold the hearing. Planning Commissioners said the public deserved a chance to voice concerns about, or support for, the project, but cautioned that they are a recommending body only and have no authority to reverse any decisions made by the Board of Commissioners.
The hearing is tentatively set for Nov. 8.
