Idaho Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Luna announced Monday that Lakevue Elementary School third-grade teacher Sara Ward is the 2012 Milken Educator of the Year in Idaho.

The award comes with a $25,000 prize for Ward, one of 14 educators in Idaho who have received the award since 2003.

Ward was recognized for her “passion and innovative strategies,” according to a news release, and was previously named Lakevue Elementary Teacher of the Year and was the first runner-up for Vallivue District Teacher of the year.
