Petco will open a new store in Meridian this weekend at North Eagle Road and East Fairview Avenue. The store has 23 employees and is at The Village at Meridian.

The pet-supply chain's latest store will have a grand opening with all-day pet adoptions all weekend, giveaways and free services.

Petco sells pet food and supplies, including natural, organic and raw food.

The Meridian store opens at 9 a.m. Saturday after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. It also will be open at 9 a.m. Sunday. On each of those days, the first 100 customers with Pals rewards cards will receive a free $10 Petco gift card.

The store will host free monthly interactive educational events called Meet the Critters.
