Mitt Romney or Barack Obama? Most of the 30 or so people gathered at Payette Brewing in Garden City for Tuesdays presidential debate werent searching for a candidate to support. Their minds were basically made up, and the debate reiterated opinions. Sponsored by the Idaho Civic Engagement Project, Tuesdays watch party was a chance for friends to gather for a brew and express the occasional cheer. Or jeer.
I thought Obama did a great job. As a Democrat, I was a little disappointed in the last debate.

I think my mind could have possibly been swayed to move to the Romney campaign if he had offered any real explanation whatsoever about his tax plan. But it seems that he just cant do that, and it gives me less faith in his credibility as a candidate.

To me, human rights issues are more important than economic issues, so I will never vote for someone who wants to take away social rights from people. But I didnt necessarily come here to cheer on Obama.

You cant vote for a person based on whether you like them or not. You vote based on their record. If I ran a company that hadnt been doing well for four years, I wouldnt be keeping that job.

Its discouraging to me that the majority of the issues brought up were not important to our economy. They were political issues. You can be swayed if you see a plan.

It solidified my opinions. I dont think Romney has any interest in understanding the nation as a whole.
