Boise gets more rain in one fall day than all summer

Published: October 17, 2012

How much rain fell? The National Weather Service measured .55 of an inch at the Boise Airport between 1 a.m. to noon Tuesday.

Dry summer: From June 1 to Sept. 30, just .31 inches of rain fell at the Boise Airport; none was measured in August. It was the fifth-driest summer on record.

Dry fall: More rain fell since 1 a.m. Tuesday than the first 15 days of October, which totaled .14 of an inch of rain, and most of that fell Monday. What that means is it has been dry for a long time.

What’s next? Expect clear, sunny skies and cooler days. The estimated highs for the rest of the work week are in the mid-60s, according to the Weather Service.
